Example of work 1
Hotel du Vin
Hotel du Vin - This 26-week, £4.4m landmark project involved the sympathetic renovation, alteration and extension of the former Mansion House Hotel, situated behind the quay in Old Town Poole. Greendale worked alongside a resident archaeologist, and with local planning and conservation officers, to retain and remodel the listed buildings and its adjoining properties. During construction, no part of the building was left untouched and it was also extended to incorporate a new bedroom wing. Previous additions to the property were re-clad in traditional brick envelope to ensure the entire structure remained in keeping with its architectural heritage. The new and impressive 38-bedroom boutique hotel was completed a week ahead of schedule thanks to the work of 150 Greendale employees. Senior staff from Hotel du Vin commented that it was the smoothest opening of any of the hotels they had created.
Example of work 2
Highcliffe Castle - This major 18-month, £1.9m renovation and restoration of Highcliffe Castle’s Penleaze Wing has seen the Grade I listed building have access opened up to parts of the castle previously impassable for over 50 years, since devastating fires and vandalism of the 1970s that destroyed and cut off parts of the building. The castle’s original kitchen dating from the 1800s has been reinstalled, with original stone floors being re-laid along with new concrete ground slabs. Existing retained solid floors have been overlaid and new oak flooring to key rooms has been installed, as well as modern underfloor heating. The works have also seen the extension of upper level stairs with timber and the formation of 2 new lift shafts and 5 new or restored stairs. A mezzanine level walkway has been completed, and new steel stairs extending to the first and second floor.
Example of work 3
Private House
Private House - Greendale Construction were appointed to demolish an existing 1980s farmhouse and construct a new three storey house of contemporary design including lower ground floor level swimming pool. The new house included a large glazed façade to the rear to take advantage of the spectacular south facing views across the Wiltshire countryside. As well as cladding to the front, external works included a new driveway, a bridge over the existing culvert, automated gates and grassed areas. At the rear a banked sloping area was created to provide natural light and a stone slabbed patio at basement level, just outside the pool. Internally, high quality materials and design features are included throughout the house, including polished plaster, natural stone and timber flooring, complete with underfloor heating throughout. This is a high-tech house making use of the field next door for the ground source heating, PV on the roof, as well as a fully integrated AV and lighting system accessible in zones and as one throughout the house.
